Fabick Cat Fenton Shop’s 2nd Annual Hair Shaving Raffle Raised $4,876 for Charity
What started last year as a unique mullet-shaving raffle turned barbershop extravaganza, has now turned into an annual tradition! Last week, Fabick Cat’s Fenton, MO Service Shop team continued their heartfelt mission to support Leaps of Love by taking to the razor and clippers.
Mark Becker, Shop Service Technician, and his infamous mullet, started this tradition last year in an effort to make a small impact in the lives of families who are dealing with childhood brain tumors, late-effects of childhood cancer, and pediatric predisposition syndrome. Similar to 2023, donations were raised through raffle tickets offering a chance for colleagues to take the first pass at shaving their team members’ heads. Knowing Fabick Cat employees are actively involved in the communities where we all live and work with many having charities they support on their own – the spirit of giving took over the room once again.
Starting with $480 in raffle ticket sales prior to the event, the room turned into an all-out donation fest. Team members were encouraging each other to shave their heads by raising more funds – all in the name of charity. With Mark Becker continuing the tradition, five additional Fabick Cat team members joined in the head shaving and hair cutting fun including Terry Dill, Parts Analyst; Joseph Fisher, Warehouse employee; Jimmy Greer, Regional Product Support Manager; Marty Hardie, Warehouse employee; and Blake Nelson, Shop Service Technician. On site this year was hair stylist, Hannah Tackett (daughter of Seth Tackett, Service Manager). Hannah graciously donated her time and expertise so those who volunteered for the head shaving and hair cutting got some professional attention before the event wrapped up.
An impressive $2,438 was raised through a combination of raffle sales and in-the-moment donations. But before the event concluded, Kelli Fabick, General Manager of Fabick Rents and fifth generation family member, announced that the Fabick family would match the day’s total making the final donation $4,876!
The event would not have been possible without Kerri Klein, Service Supervisor, who had the original idea in 2023 for Mark’s mullet-shaving raffle. She thought the team could raise a couple hundred dollars for this special charity, knowing it would be a fun yet meaningful way for the Fenton Service Shop to come together and support a great cause. What Kerri didn’t expect was that her initial idea would ultimately turn into a truly inspiring annual donation for Leaps of Love – furthering their mission to engage with families by offering hope, strength, and encouragement through their signature retreats, events, and outings – year after year!
Fabick Cat is proud to support employees who are not only dedicated to their craft but also compassionate individuals making a difference in the world. The final donations made during this event spanned the organization with employees from many different divisions joining in the day-of auctioneering fun, all bound together by the spirit of giving.
Through recognition and encouragement, Fabick Cat is honored to have opportunities like this, to help foster a culture of philanthropy and social responsibility across all locations and communities served.
